It’s happy hour time in Austin Texas! I have a bunch of different blog posts for you by location, and this one is all about the best happy hours in South Austin.
Bookmark it if you wish, and re-visit this page whenever you’re searching for some HH inspo. I’m always updating these posts to keep them fresh with all of the new and best happy hours in ATX!
I’m starting off with south Austin happy hours, because it’s where I love to spend most of my time. There are some amazing restaurants in south Austin that have won awards like Food & Wine’s Top 10 Restaurants Of The Year, GABF’s Large Brewpub Of The Year, and James Beard awards and nominations.
BEST HAPPY HOURS: SOUTH AUSTIN
Lenoir is one of my very favorite spots in south Austin! The wine garden is so darling with the white wooden furniture and twinkly lights hanging from old live oak trees. Since the happy hour special is an entire bottles of wine, I love to go with a group of girlfriends and share a couple bottles.
Happy Hour: Tue-Sun, 5-6:30
– Half off all bottles of wine priced under $80 (outdoors only)
Sway Thai started serving a weekday happy hour in South Austin, and I’m so happy about that!. I adore the little outdoor garden at the South First Street location.
Happy Hour: Mon-Fri, 3-6
– Half off all specialty cocktails
– Half off wine
– Half off sake
– Half off beer
If you’re on a budget but still want to experience the glory of Uchi, this is hands down the way to do it! James Beard award-winning chef Tyson Cole’s menu will stay in your memory long after you’ve left the restaurant. Enjoy a selection of bites from the regular menu at a fraction of the cost. Show up early for the Sake Social…there’s always a wait list!
Sake Social: daily, 5-6:30
Discount prices on select menu items

Eberly wins for being one of the prettiest, most instagramable restaurants in south Austin. The Cedar Tavern happy hour has great prices on drinks, making this a beautiful (and oh-so-instagrammable) spot to gather with your girlfriends for a pre-dinner drink.

Oh, Odd Duck… How I love you! Since the happy hour at this farm-to-table restaurant includes regular food items and goes all the way to 6:30, you can call it an early dinner and enjoy half off your tab!
Happy Hour: Sun-Thur, 2:30-6:30

I love this place for their casual, southern gulf vibes and giant white picnic tables outside. The happy hour goes all night on Mondays, so try to stop by on that night if you can!
One of my favorite ways to spend a night in Austin is meeting a big group of girlfriends here and ordering a bunch of snacks for the table.
Happy Hour: Mon, 3pm – 11pm, Tue-Fri, 3 to 7pm
– a bunch of $5 bites
– a bunch of $5 drinks
Perla’s is my favorite “fancy” place in South Austin. I eat dinner here when I have a special occasion to celebrate, but if it’s just a normal evening and I want to get a little dressed up and feel snazzy, I love their happy hour. It’s a minor discount, but if you order a bunch of oysters, 50 cents on each can add up.
Happy Hour: Mon-Fri, 3-6 pm
– $2 Off Beverages
– 50 cents off oysters
9. Lucky Robot
The vibe here is “Japanese street food,” which is perfect for the South Congress location. It’s a great place to take a break from shopping, order some drinks and rolls, and people watch while you rest your feet.
Happy Hour: Mon-Fri, 4-6 pm
– half price cool apps and bites
– half price select bottles of sake and wine
– $1 off central Texas beer
This mansion built in 1895 also has a happy hour and a late night menu available only on the lawn. I love hanging out under the stars and watching the peacocks strut across the lawn while the live band plays on a summer night.

– $2 off cocktails
– $2 off house wine

Happy Hour: Mon-Fri, 3-6 pm
– 1/2 off all appetizers and bahn mi’s
– $2 off cocktails, beer, wine, sake, and punch
ABGB is my favorite brewery in Austin! They’ve won “Large Brewpub of the Year” at GABF two years in a row, and their pizza is thin and a little chewy (exactly how I like it.)
Ok….this is honestly not much of a happy hour, but I’m always happy to pay full price here, anyway.
Happy Hour: Tue-Fri, 3-7 pm
– $1 off pints
– $2 off pitchers
– pitcher + pizza for $30
Tyson Cole and Aaron Franklin’s Asian smokehouse has a fantastic happy hour, but you have to get there early in the day. Call it a late lunch, maybe?

14. Central Standard
Central Standard is in the South Congress Hotel, so you know it’s going to be beautiful! This is a great place to go on a date or to meet up with a small group of girlfriends.

– 1/2 full beverage menu, including beers, wines by the glass or bottles, and house cocktails
– $3.00 east coast oysters + condiments
Winebelly is on my list of 8 Gorgeous Wine Bars in Austin. I love it because the servers are actually knowledgable about wine, which should probably go without saying…but I’m amazed at how many times I ask a question at a wine bar and I’m given a complete BS answer.. (And my wine knowledge isn’t all that vast.)
But the good folks at Winebelly are always able to answer my questions, teach me something new, and recommend a bottle. The Sunday/Monday happy hour is the best, because they have a far greater selection of wine available in bottles than by the glass.
Happy Hour: Tue-Thur, 4-6 pm
– $5 white, red, or rosé house wine
– select snacks for $5
Sunday and Monday:
-1/2 off select bottles
16. Aviary Wine Bar and Kitchen
Quirky and funny and always a little different, Aviary wins for having the most interesting selection of wine! This is a full-blown kitchen, so be sure to order some bar bites to pair with your wine selection!
Happy Hour: daily, 3-6 pm
– $2 off all glasses
– $2 off bottled and canned beer
– $5 bar bites
– $10 off select bottles of wine
Happy hour: Saturday, 3-6 pm
– 1/2 off all bottles of wine
17. Joann’s Fine Foods
Joann’s serves delectable diner food, Tex-Mex favorites, and American classics (that chicken fried steak..mmmm!)
Pretty much everything on the menu is delicious (love their beef fajitas served in a bed of queso fundido with homemade flour tortillas), so take advantage of that happy hour deal to get 25% off everything on the food menu.
Happy hour: weekdays, 4-6pm
– 25% off food
– $2 off cocktails, beer & wine
– $5 sols & lolita sunrises
18. Thai Fresh
This is a really fun, casual neighborhood spot. The food is DELICIOUS (I often stop by for takeout dinners) so the happy hour is a great way to take advantage of the food menu.
Happy hour: every day, 4-6 pm
– $2 off wines by the glass
– discount food bites like $2.50 egg rolls, $7 chicken wings two ways, and $3.50 coconut soup
19. Hopdoddy Burger Bar
Happy hour: Mon-Fri 3-6:30
– $5 select burger
– $5 sips, brewer of the month drafts, and all wine
This little coffee/cocktail lounge on South Congress avenue has a crazy long happy hour…. I mean, if you need a happy hour at 1:00 in the afternoon, this is where you need to go!
The interior is absolutely gorgeous. And although it looks pretty swanky, they call themselves a “neighborhood bar,” so the drinks are approachable and the prices are really reasonable.
Happy Hour: Mon-Fri, 1-7 pm
– $2 off cocktails and wine
– $1 off frozen and drafts
